A community DIY roast color meter project was shared as a way to build a low-cost device for evaluating roast color. The project was described as being made possible by contributors from the Kaffe-Logic Discord community. source

Project Basis

The roast-meter project is based on the SparkFun MAX30101 sensor. The same sensor was described as being present in several color meters, including Roast Vision. source

Parts and Cost

The shared build uses parts from SparkFun, which were described as easy to find online. The approximate total parts cost was given as about ±$100. source

  • A 3D-printed case, requiring either a 3D printer or access to a 3D printing service. source
