About
The practical knowledge for getting the most out of a ROEST has been worked out over years of conversation in the community Discord — by the operators, baristas, and roasters who keep answering each other’s questions. It is real and hard-won, and almost impossible to find when you need it. Good answers get buried under newer ones, threads fork and never converge, and a question that was carefully settled in 2023 gets re-litigated this week because no one remembers the answer existed.
This wiki is a re-presentation of that work, organized by topic and traced back to source. Conversations have been grouped, claims extracted, and prose written so every assertion stays linked to the discussion that produced it. The synthesis is mechanical — an LLM does the heavy lifting on a periodic cycle against a fresh scrape of the public Discord — but the substance belongs to the community. The work is theirs; this just makes it findable.
How citations work
Three pill types appear at the end of sentences:
- source (gray) — a direct claim drawn from one or more community conversations.
- inferred (warm tan, italic) — a logical extension of source claims rather than a direct quote.
- curated (blue) — context added by an expert reviewer that does not originate from the community.
Conversation IDs follow the form conv_xxx_yyy. They are not currently linkable but serve as a stable audit trail.
When sources disagree
Disagreements are surfaced as callout boxes rather than flattened into a single recommendation. Temporal evolution indicates older guidance superseded by newer practice. Unresolved conflict indicates an active community split where no consensus has emerged.
Updates
The synthesis pipeline runs on a schedule against the latest community messages. When new content lands, the site rebuilds automatically — there is no manual edit step on individual pages.
