Charge and Early Inlet Temperature

Charge and Early Inlet Temperature

Charge temperature and early inlet temperature are key profile-shaping tools on ROEST. When a roast appears underpowered early, one recommended adjustment is to charge much higher rather than only making later-stage changes. Denis6004 specifically recommended charging higher, with a stated charge range of 250–270°C. source

Early Inlet Adjustment

Another recommended approach is to increase inlet temperature especially in the early part of the roast. Denis6004 suggested raising early inlet temperature by about 10–30°C. source

Practical Use

Use these changes as profile-tuning moves when the roast needs more early energy:

  • Try a higher charge temperature, around 250–270°C, when the current charge is too low for the desired momentum. source
  • Increase early inlet temperature by roughly 10–30°C when the beginning of the roast needs more heat input. source

These recommendations are general ROEST profile guidance and should be adapted to batch size, bean density, target roast level, and machine behavior.
